The rocket, carrying the region's first nanometric environmental satellite has moved to the launch site in Kazakhstan.

DMSat-1 will be launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on Saturday, March 20.

It will monitor, collect and analyse environmental data as well as measure air pollutants and greenhouse gases.

The data generated by the satellite will also help enhance Dubai's leading role in developing quality projects and pioneering research in the field of climate change.

Based on Dubai Municipality's requirements, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) built the satellite in collaboration with the Space Flight Laboratory (SFL) at the University of Toronto.
