Dubai's aviation sector helps repatriate over 37,000 passengers

Dubai’s aviation sector has helped more than 37,000 passengers to return to their home countries.

According to Dubai Airports, by teaming up with embassies and UAE government authorities, they were able to dispatch 312 special repatriation flights operated by 54 airlines.

This comes as normal passenger flight operations remain temporarily suspended at Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC) due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The aviation sector has intensified sterilisation and deep cleaning programmes in order to safely operate repatriation flights from the country.

It has also implemented social distancing measures at airports, which aligns with the directives issued by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA.

Earlier, airports were shut and flights were suspended as part of the UAE government’s efforts to combat the spread of the coronavirus.
