Dubai Police issues alert on smartphones as heavy rain hits several parts

Residents in Dubai received a weather alert on their smartphones on Tuesday, with the authorities warning about "adverse conditions" and advising against heading to "beaches and areas prone to flash floods".

"Dubai city is experiencing adverse weather conditions," the message read.

"Stay clear of beaches and areas prone to flash floods. Drive with care and heed the advice of authorities. Stay safe."

Dubai Police also issued "driving guidelines" for rainy weather on their social media accounts.

Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah Police also took to their official social media handles to alert road users about unstable weather conditions.

The National Centre of Meteorology reported reduced visibility in some parts as "heavy rain with hail" hit Dubai's Margham and Sharjah's Al Madam.

They also reported rain of varying intensities across the UAE capital.
