Dubai Police blocked 560 social media accounts in the second quarter of 2023 for promoting drugs, while seizing 491 kg of drugs and 3.3 million narcotic pills during raids.
Revealing the stats, the General Department of Anti-Narcotics at Dubai Police said they apprehended 49.6 per cent of total suspects arrested in drug-related cases during the same period.
Confiscated drugs included cocaine, heroin, crystal meth, opium, marijuana and hashish, among others, officials revealed.
The force also shared significant information with several countries including Australia, UK, Saudi Arabia, China, India, US, Pakistan, Thailand, South Africa and Nigeria, among others, leading to 28 arrests and the seizure of 431 kg of drugs.
Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, praised the efforts of the force in ensuring the safety and security of the nation and effectively combating drug distribution, both domestically and internationally.
