Dubai municipality ramps up health, safety inspections

Dubai Municipality conducted as many as 52,233 inspections in the first half of 2024, focusing on environment, health and food safety.

These field visits aimed to ensure that commercial establishments, public facilities and organisations across the city complied with rules and regulations. 

During the six-month period between January and June, as many as 18,374 inspections were carried out across various food establishments that included restaurants, hotels, cafes, as well as hypermarkets, supermarkets and temporary events.

Another 26,566 inspections targeted shisha cafes, hair salons, beauty parlours, hotel facilities, worker accommodations and community markets, in addition to public places, buildings, playgrounds, event venues and infrastructure projects.

A total of 2,962 inspections visits were conducted at abattoirs, veterinary facilities and pest control companies, while 4,331 field visits were carried out to monitor the emirate's maritime environment, nature reserves and industrial facilities.

"Dubai Municipality places a major emphasis on the food, environment, and safety sectors. We constantly strive to develop these sectors and enhance their safety through monitoring to guarantee the highest standards of quality of life in the emirate," said Dr. Naseem Mohammad Rafee, Acting CEO of the municipality's environment, health & safety agency.
