Dubai is taking further measures to ensure sustainable practices within the commercial transport sector.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially launched the 'Green Fleet Rating System' designed to promote eco-friendly commercial transport activities.
"The initiative encourages commercial transport companies to embrace green technologies, thereby reducing the carbon footprint. It also enhances air quality, environmental sustainability and boosts public health in Dubai," said Abdulla Yousef Al Ali, CEO of the RTA’s Licensing Agency.
"The programme aims to improve the environmental practices of these companies, thereby elevating corporate social responsibility standards. RTA would also offer various incentives to motivate these entities to adopt greener methodologies," he added.
The system includes a comprehensive guide and rating process designed to assess companies' environmental practices.
Companies engaged in transport and leasing activities under the purview of the RTA are eligible to participate in the 'Green Fleet Rating System'.
Participants will receive the RTA's digital 'Green Certificates', commending their adherence to sustainable practices based on the evaluation criteria.
