Dubai Cares, UN World Food Programme team up for school health in Africa

WAM

Dubai Cares has partnered with the United Nations World Food programme to ensure that all children enrolled for basic education in Africa have access to good quality meals in schools.

It also aims to offer a comprehensive, integrated package of health and nutrition services.

Announced on the sidelines of the Dubai International Aid and Development Exhibition and Conference (DIHAD), the strategic agreement focuses on ensuring the health and well-being of future generations to enhance learning and human capital.

Under this agreement, the first contribution, amounting to $4 million (AED 14,694,000) will ensure the school food programme expands to more areas.

Dr Tariq Muhammad Al Gurg, CEO and member of Dubai Care’s Board of Directors, highlighted that the feeding programme plays a prominent role in supporting underprivileged communities across the African continent and will promote gender equality.
