Starting Saturday, commuters crossing the border into Abu Dhabi will need to present a negative PCR or DPI test result with a 48-hour validity.

That's according to a tweet by the Abu Dhabi Media Office, which clarified that "DPI test results no longer require a prior PCR test".

It added that people "who stay for six consecutive days or more within Abu Dhabi must take a PCR test on the sixth day of each visit, in order to protect the health and safety of the community".

The update in travel rules is in line with the efforts by the authorities to expand testing for early detection of COVID-19 infections.
