Paediatric care in the UAE needs to improve. That’s the message from a leading Dubai doctor. It comes as medical experts from around the Middle East are meeting in the city to discuss paediatric care in the region. Top of the agenda are infectious diseases and vaccination, best practices in adolescent medicine, and diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver in children. Dubai’s first hospital dedicated to paediatric care is due to open this year. Al Jalila Children's Specialty Hospital has 200 beds, and cost nearly AED 700 million to build. Dr. Mudit Kumar is a consultant paediatrician at Mediclinic Welcare Hospital. He says there’s a real need for more specialist care in the country.
