AED 58 million worth of narcotic pills uncovered in fake lemons

Dubai Police

Four men have been arrested after Dubai Police thwarted their attempt to smuggle AED 58 million worth of narcotic pills into the country by stuffing them inside fake lemons.

In an operation, codenamed 66, officers responded to a tip-off about an international drug syndicate sending a massive shipment in a "refrigerated fruit and vegetable container".

Once the officers verified the information, they monitored the first suspect, who received the shipment, and waited until he led them to the other three suspects.

Of the 3,840 boxes of lemons, 66 of them were found to have fake lemons.

As many 1,160,500 Captagon pills were seized in the operation, the officers added.
