Pakistan got their World Twenty20 campaign off to a winning start, beating Bangladesh by 55 runs in Kolkata. After Ahmed Shehzad and Mohammad Hafee hit fluent half-centuries, captain Shahid Afridi scored 49 off 19 balls as Pakistan posted 201 for 5. Afridi then made his mark with the ball, taking two wickets, as Bangladesh were restricted to 146 for 6. Elsewhere, England lost their opening game, going down to a six-wicket defeat to the West Indies. Batting first, Eoin Morgan’s side posted a score of 182 for 6. But a 47-ball century from Chris Gayle, the third fastest in T20 internationals, led the Indies past the target with 11 balls to spare.
