The UAE Team Emirates have made the podium at the World Championships Road Race in Glasgow with rider Tadej Pogačar taking third place, narrowly outsprinting Mads Pedersen to the bronze medal.

The Slovenian hung on to third place after a hard-fought six-hour race, which saw Dutchman Mathieu Van Der Poel crowned champion.

Pogačar's solid performance saw him form part an elite group, which developed inside the final stages of the 271-kilometre course.

At the end of the gruelling battle, Pogačar outsprinted Mads Pedersen to narrowly take the bronze medal. Dutch rider Mathieu Van Der Poel won gold, with Wout Van Aert taking silver.
