Smith’s performance in the Boxing Day Test against West Indies saw him jump from fourth to number-one position in the year-end rankings for batsmen. Meanwhile, Ashwin claimed the number-one bowling spot for the first time in his career after taking 62 wickets in nine Tests. He also ends the year as the top ranked all-rounder.
