Rugby World Cup: Australia and Argentina through to semis after thrilling games

Australia broke Scottish hearts in the last minute of their quarter-final meeting on Sunday night, winning 35-34. Scotland had taken the lead with just seven minutes remaining thanks to Mark Bennett’s interception try, one of eight in an exhilarating match However, Bernard Foley converted a late, controversial penalty, awarded for deliberate offside despite replays showing the ball coming off an Australian player, to give the Wallabies the victory. In the semi-final they’ll face Argentina, who stunned Ireland with a 43-20 win. The Puma’s stormed to a 17-0 lead in just 13 minutes thanks to brilliant tries from Matias Moroni and Juan Imhoff. A depleted Ireland, missing Paul O'Connell, Johnny Sexton, Peter O'Mahony, Sean O'Brien and Jared Payne, then fought back and reduced the deficit to just three points at one point. However, Argentina again forced the momentum back their way, with Joaquin Tuculet and Imhoff scoring late tries to seal a famous win.
