Pakistan’s fast bowler Naseem Shah has become the youngest cricketer in history to pick up a Test hat-trick.

He achieved the feat at the age of 16 years and 359 days on day 3 of the opening Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.

Shah dismissed Najmul Hossain Shanto off the fourth ball of his seventh over, and then followed up with the wickets of Taijul Islam and Mahmudullah.

The previous record was set by Bangladesh’s Alok Kapali at the age of 19 in 2003.

Bangladesh were 126-6 at stumps, needing another 86 runs to avoid an innings defeat. Pakistan were earlier bowled out for 445 with Babar Azam making 143 and Haris Sohail 75.
