New Zealand defeat Pakistan in first ODI

New Zealand beat Pakistan by 70 runs in the first One-Day International (ODI) in Wellington. Defending a score of 280-8, the Black Caps dismissed their opponents for 210, with four overs to spare. Henry Nicholls was named player of the match for smashing 82 runs off 111 balls. Trent Boult was the pick of the bowlers with 4-40, while Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir and Anwar Ali picked three wickets each. The second game of the three-match series will be played in Napier on Thursday, January 28.
