John Terry scores controversial goal for Chelsea against Everton

John Terry of Chelsea celebrates scoring his team's third goal during the Barclays Premier League match between Chelsea and Everton at Stamford Bridge on January 16, 2016 in London, England.

Chelsea’s John Terry netted a controversial 98th minute equalizer against Everton on Saturday, earning his team a point in the Premier League. Everton initially had a 2-0 lead but Diego Costa reduced the margin and Cesc Fabregas's deflected shot made it 2-2. Ramiro Funes Mori restored Everton's lead in the 90th minute only for Terry to back-heel the leveler from close range, even though he was a yard offside. Everton players were furious that Terry's goal was allowed to stand while manager Roberto Martinez was also fuming that referee Mike Jones allowed more play than the 7 additional minutes indicated. While Terry's dramatic late goal sparked thrilling scenes at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea will be 4 points above the relegation places if Swansea win at home to Watford on Monday.
