India defeated Australia by six wickets in Hyderabad to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match One-Day International series.
MS Dhoni (59) and Kedar Jadhav (81) struck unbeaten half-centuries to help the hosts reach their target of 237 runs with 10 balls remaining.
The Indian bowlers had earlier restricted the Aussies to 236-7 after they opted to bat at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami took two wickets each, while Usman Khawaja (50) and Glenn Maxwell (40) were Australia's top contributors.
The second game will be played in Nagpur on Tuesday.
