Godolphin's Ambience destroys rivals in Wakefield Stakes

Retained jockey James Mcdonald saddled Godolphin's only winner on Derby Day at Flemington Racecourse, on the opening day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival. In the first of ten rides wearing the famous Blue silks, the 23-year-old steered home Ambience in the Mumm Wakefield Stakes. It proved to be the highlight of the day though as highly-fancied Exosphere could only manage fourth in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes. Darren Beadman, assistant trainer for Godolphin in Australia, was upbeat about his team's performance on the day.
