Outsider Tesfaye Abera Dibaba smashed his personal best by over five minutes to win the 42 km stretch in 02:04:24, nine seconds ahead of second-placed Lemi Berhanu Hayle. Their compatriot Tirfi Tsegaye Bayene won the women's race in 02:19:41. The Dubai Marathon is the richest in the world, with a prize money offering of $1 million.
