Authorities in Dubai have allowed spectators to return to sports events taking place in the emirate, up to a maximum of 30 per cent capacity.

The Dubai Sports Council (DSC) has obtained the approval of the Executive Council of Dubai and the Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management in Dubai for the return of spectators.

The move is an endorsement of the health and safety protocols implemented by DSC.

Work is underway to prepare for the return of spectators at upcoming sports tournaments organised by DSC or overseeing their organisation.

The Council is in contact with organisers and sports federations to discuss the possibility of the return of fans to matches that are held in the stadiums and halls of Dubai.

Dubai is also gearing up to host athletes and teams preparing for the Tokyo Olympics 2020, which was postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Dubai Sports Council is in contact with several sports federations and National Olympic Committees of a number of countries wishing to set up training camps in Dubai for their athletes.

The Council will provide all the necessary facilities for the camps, including entry visas and training options in Dubai's advanced sports facilities.
