Novak Djokovic is the 2019 Wimbledon champion after overcoming Roger Federer in a five-set thriller.

The world number one took the first set of the final through a tie-break before Federer stormed back to claim the second 6-1.

Djokovic then steadied himself following a bathroom break prior to the third set, going on to again win a tie-break, but Federer fought back once more, winning the fourth 6-4.

The pair, meeting for the 48th time, couldn't be separated during the decider, going to 12-12, meaning there was the first-ever fifth-set tie-break in a Grand Slam final.

Djokovic again got the better of it to win 7-6 (7-5), 1-6, 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 13-12 (7-3).

It’s Djokovic’s 16th Grand Slam title, moving him to within two of Rafael Nadal and four of Federer.
