Pakistan closed on 286 for 4 on day one of their opening Test against England in Abu Dhabi. Shoaib Malik marked his first Test for five years with an unbeaten 124, Mohammad Hafeez hit 98, and Younis Khan's 38 took him past Javed Miandad's record of 8,832 runs, to become Pakistan's leading Test run scorer. On a day in which England's attack struggled on a pitch offering little help, James Anderson claimed two wickets, with Stuart Broad and Mark Wood taking one each. Moeen Ali and debutabt Adil Rashid will be disappointed with not taking a wicket in a combined 36 overs, as will Ian Bell for dropping two simple catches. Play resumes today at 10 am.
