34 players associated with the Australian Rules club, Essendon FC, have been banned for the 2016 season for doping. After they were initially cleared of the charges, the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld an appeal by the World Anti-Doping Agency. An investigation into the club’s sports science and player supplement programme began in 2012. Of the 34 players found guilty, 12 are still with Essendon, while 17 have either retired or been delisted.
