Angelique Kerber stuns Serena Williams to clinch Australian Open title

Angelique Kerber stunned Serena Williams to claim the Australian Open title. The 28-year-old German, who was playing in her first Grand Slam final, won 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 against the world number one. Williams had been seeking her 22nd major title, which would have moved her into a tie with Steffi Graf for the most Grand Slam singles titles in the Open era. Meanwhile, Kerber will rise to world number two with victory, earning $3.4 million for the win.
