US military planes carrying aid for Venezuelans arrive in Colombia

A US military transport plane carrying humanitarian aid for Venezuela has landed in Colombian city of Cúcuta, despite uncertainty over how it will be distributed.

Representatives of Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido have met with US officials as the three military planes landed with around 180 tonnes of aid on Saturday afternoon.

Guaido, who is recognised as interim president by the US and nearly 60 other countries, has said the aid will enter Venezuela on February 23.

However, it's still unclear whether President Nicolas Maduro, who has alleged that the aid is part of a US plot to disguise an invasion into Venezuela, will allow the supplies to enter the country.

More flights from the US are expected next week.
