The US military has completed its eighth consecutive night of strikes against Iran, the Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Saturday, hitting Iranian military coastal surveillance and air defence facilities.
It also targeted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces that launched attacks against US service members in Jordan on Friday, CENTCOM said in a statement.
"The strikes are designed to further degrade Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and swiftly punish Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces who launched attacks against American service members in Jordan last night," an earlier statement said.
The Central Command had announced that the two deaths occurred and that a third US service member was missing in action as they defended against Iranian missiles and drones on July 17.
The announcement brought the number of US service members killed since the war began to 16, while more than 420 have been wounded.
Meanwhile, Kuwaiti air defence forces announced they are intercepting missile and drone attacks early on Sunday. Bahrain's state media reported intercepting attacks after sirens were activated across the country.
