The United Nations has called on the international community to do more to tackle Ebola.

Hundreds of millions of dollars is needed to fight the outbreak of the disease in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), according to the UN's humanitarian chief Mark Lowcock.

Speaking in Geneva, he said that the latest outbreak, the worst recorded in the country, could last longer and cost more lives and money unless there is an increase in funds.

Lowcock also urged UN member states to help to end the ongoing violence in the DRC.
