Truck bomb in eastern Afghan city kills 5, injures 14

At least five people have been killed and 14 more wounded after Taliban militants launched an attack in the eastern Afghan city of Gardez on Thursday.

According to reports, a truck packed with explosives blew up near a military court.

"Dozens of civilians are feared to be dead and wounded," said an interior ministry spokesman.

It comes just two days after attacks on a hospital and a funeral left at least 56 people dead, with President Ashraf Ghani ordering the military to switch to offensive mode.

This poses a huge blow to the peace process that's currently underway in the war-ravaged nation.
