Toppled Bashir moved to Khartoum's Kobar prison

EBRAHIM HAMID / AFP

Deposed Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir has been moved from his residence to Kobar prison in the capital Khartoum.

Months of protests in Sudan led to his ouster and arrest on Thursday, with many still demanding that the ruling Transitional Military Council (TMC) hand over power to a civilian-led authority ahead of elections.

Meanwhile, Uganda said it will consider offering asylum to Bashir despite his indictment by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Bashir, who led Sudan for close to 30 years, is accused of crimes against humanity in Sudan's western Darfur region during an insurgency that began in 2003.
