Papua New Guinea hit by earthquake

An earthquake measuring magnitude 6.4 has struck off Papua New Guinea.

According to the US Geological Survey, the epicentre was 26 kilometres north of Kandrian in New Britain.

There were no immediate reports of damage in the area.

It comes just a day after two people in neighbouring Indonesia were killed as a 7.3 earthquake hit.

A number of aftershocks also struck the Moluccas islands, with hundreds being forced to flee from their homes.
