No evidence for direct IS link to Sri Lanka attacks

Sri Lankan police haven’t found enough evidence to prove the direct involvement of IS in the Easter Sunday bombings.

The militant group had claimed responsibility for the attacks on churches and hotels in the country that killed more than 250 people.

However, the head of the police criminal investigation department says there’s isn’t sufficient proof about a direct IS link.

Ravi Seneviratne has been speaking to a parliament committee probing the April 21 attacks.

Police have said members of two little-known local groups, the National Thawheedh Jamaath (NTJ) and Jamathei Millathu Ibrahim, carried out the bombings.
