Iranian attacks have hit Kuwait's power generation and water desalination plant for the second time in two days, causing damage to facilities, a fire, and the disruption of a large number of electricity generation units, Kuwaiti authorities reported on Sunday.
In a statement, Kuwait's Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy Ministry said that emergency plans were activated, and the incident was dealt with immediately to mitigate its impact and maintain the stability of the electrical grid.
Later on Sunday, the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry condemned Iran, calling it a direct strike on vital civilian infrastructure and revealed it intercepted and dealt with ballistic missiles and drones.
The repeated targeting of civilian facilities amounted to a dangerous escalation and violated international law, the UN Charter and UN Security Council Resolution 2817, the ministry said in a statement.
It said Iran bore full legal and moral responsibility for the attack and its consequences.
The blaze was brought under control by firefighters, while technical teams began assessing the damage, securing the station and working to restore the affected electricity generation units to service as soon as possible.
Kuwaiti defence forces had earlier reported that it was intercepting Iranian missile and drone attacks after the US completed its eighth consecutive strike on Iran.
