Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has welcomed his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi's greetings on the eve of the country's National Day.

On Twitter, he highlighted that it was "time to begin a comprehensive dialogue with India to address and resolve all issues, especially the central issue of Kashmir", and stressed the need to "forge a new relationship based on peace and prosperity for all our people".

Modi’s message comes as relations between the two countries have deteriorated following the attack on Indian soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district in February.
