Hong Kong airport reopens after overnight clashes, mass protests

ANTHONY WALLACE / AFP

Operations at Hong Kong’s airport resumed Wednesday after two days of massive anti-government protests blocked air traffic.

Check-in counters reopened after the Airport Authority obtained a temporary injunction banning protesters from entering certain areas.

In a statement, it said people would be "restrained from attending or participating in any demonstration or protest... in the airport other than in the area designated by the Airport Authority".

Hundreds of flights were cancelled on Tuesday after a night of chaos saw protesters clash with riot police.
