The humanitarian truce deal that brought a pause to the fighting in the Gaza Strip has been extended by two days, Qatar's ministry of foreign affairs said on Monday.

The ministry's spokesperson Dr. Majed Al Ansari did not immediately confirm the details of the agreement.

"As part of the ongoing mediation, an agreement has been reached to extend the humanitarian pause for an additional two days in the Gaza Strip," he said in a statement on X.

In an earlier post, Al Ansari said the deal could include the delivery of additional aid to Gaza and the release of the "largest possible number of hostages and prisoners."

An initial four-day truce in Gaza was set to expire on Monday.
