Delhi chief minister Kejriwal arrested in graft case

India's financial crime agency on Thursday arrested Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, in connection with graft allegations relating to the city's liquor policy.

Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) hours after the Delhi High Court rejected his plea seeking protection from arrest.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader has become the first serving chief minister to be arrested.

He is expected to be produced before a special court on Friday, where the ED will seek his custody for interrogation.

The case relates to the now-withdrawn Delhi liquor sales policy introduced in 2021.

The AAP has said that the investigation is India's ruling party BJP's attempt to settle political scores.
