Thirty-nine Palestinian women and children detainees were released from Israeli jails, shortly after 13 hostages were released from Gaza on the first day of the four-day truce between Israel and Hamas.

According to media reports, two white buses transporting male and female prisoners, accompanied by cars belonging to the International Committee of the Red Cross, were seen leaving the Ofer Camp prison.

Large crowds gathered in Beitunia to celebrate the release.

The freed prisoners were transferred to the Palestine Medical Complex for regular medical checks before they were reunited with their families.

The temporary truce agreement includes a 4-day ceasefire, the release of 50 Israeli prisoners from Gaza, in exchange for the release of 150 Palestinians from Israeli prisons, and the entry of hundreds of trucks loaded with humanitarian, relief, medical and fuel aid to all areas of the Strip.
