Wicked, tells the untold story of the witches of Oz, staring, Grammy and Tony winning star Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, a young woman, misunderstood because of her unusual green skin, who has yet to discover her true power, and multi-platinum recording artist Ariana Grande as Glinda, who has yet to discover her true heart.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, the story follows the unconventional friendship between Elphaba and Glinda and is a loose adaptation of the 1995 Gregory Maguire novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, which is in turn based on L. Frank Baum's 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and its 1939 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film adaptation.
Wicked: Part 1 arrives on the big screen on November 27, 2024.
