Taylor Swift is Time's Person of the Year

MICHAEL TRAN/ AFP

Taylor Swift has been named Time magazine's Person of the Year.

It's the latest milestone for the American singer-songwriter, who spent most of 2023 on her Eras Tour, revenues of which helped her become a billionaire.

The 33-year-old beat Vladimir Putin, Barbie and King Charles to take the title.

In the 96 years that Time has named a Person of the Year, Swift is the first entertainer to receive the designation solo.

In 2005, U2 frontman Bono was part of a group of philanthropists dubbed "The Good Samaritans."
