Philippines may ban Madonna for disrespecting flag

Shoppers walk near the Asia Arena mall where Madonna's concert will be held in Manila on February 24, 2016. Catholic bishops called on the Filipino faithful to boycott pop diva Madonna's sexually-charged concert on, calling it the devil's work.

Pop superstar Madonna could be banned from the Philippines after she allegedly disrespected the country’s flag during her performances in Manila last week. The American singer held two sold out concerts in the city as part of her “Rebel Heart” album tour. Madonna wrapped a Philippine flag around her body on stage, an act that historical commission officials said violated the country’s laws. Days before the concert, a Filipino bishop had called on fans to boycott the 57-year-old's shows, which were seen as too wild for the conservative nation.
