Actor Gene Hackman left his entire $80 million (AED 293 million) estate to his wife, Betsy Arakawa, omitting his three children, documents show. However, Arakawa's death means there is uncertainty over Hackman's fortune.
Legal experts suggest Hackman's children could possibly inherit the late actor's fortune despite not being named in his will.
Hackman named his wife as the sole beneficiary back in 1995, and updated the will in 2005.
Under succession laws, the star's three children could inherit the fortune by default as lawfully they are next in line. However they will need to prove that Arakawa died before their father for the will to be invalid.
Authorities say Arakawa died after contracting a virus a matter of days before Hackman died of natural causes in February.
