Graffiti artist Banksy draws attention to migrant crisis with new works

‘the son of a migrant from Syria

The graffiti artist Banksy is drawing attention to the migrant crisis with several new works, painted in the so-called Jungle refugee camp in Calais. One picture depicts the late Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, and is titled ‘the son of a migrant from Syria’.Another is called ‘We're not all in the same boat’, and shows a sinking raft filled with refugees, juxtaposed with a cruise ship. The artist has never revealed his identity, but is known for making political statements with his work. In a rare statement accompanying the work, Banksy said "We're often led to believe migration is a drain on the country's resources but Steve Jobs was the son of a Syrian migrant. "Apple is the world's most profitable company, it pays over $7bn (AED 25.7bn) a year in taxes - and it only exists because they allowed in a young man from Homs."
