Indian actor Aamir Khan has said that he stands by his comments after he was criticised for his remarks on growing "intolerance" in India. The actor has released a statement saying neither he nor his filmmaker wife Kiran Rao have any intention of leaving India. At an awards ceremony this week, Khan had said he was "alarmed" over rising intolerance and his wife had even suggested leaving the country. After facing criticism on social media, Khan posted a statement saying people implying that he wanted to leave the country had either not seen his interview or were deliberately trying to distort what he’d said. Khan said he stood by his earlier statement, and added that all those people who’d called him "anti-national" and shouted obscenities at him for speaking his heart out were only proving his point.
