His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, has witnessed the signing of an agreement to establish the Centre for Global Future Opportunities in Dubai during the Annual Meeting of Global Future Leaders.
The centre aims to transform promising opportunities across technological, economic, and societal fields into tangible policies, recommendations, pilot projects, initiatives, and real-world outcomes.
It will address implementation challenges and convene multidisciplinary labs to develop and test socioeconomic solutions in partnership with technology companies, institutions, international non-governmental organisations, and universities.
The centre is a joint initiative between the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) and the World Economic Forum (WEF), and will be overseen by the DFF.
"Dubai and the UAE will continue to be global partners in shaping the future, championing ambitious initiatives driven by optimism and the belief that technology should serve humanity," said Sheikh Hamdan.
The signing took place in the presence of Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Managing Director of Dubai Future Foundation; Alois Zwinggi, President and Chief Executive Officer of the World Economic Forum; and the Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Future Foundation.
The Centre for Global Future Opportunities will mark the latest milestone in the long-standing partnership between the UAE Government and the WEF.
Previous joint initiatives include the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution UAE, launched in 2019 to support the implementation of plans, policies and strategies for adopting Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies in the UAE.
It also contributed to the development of emerging technologies and best practices across the Middle East and globally.
