Emirates Airline has extended the suspension of passenger flights from India until June 30.

The carrier announced the extension in an update on its website.

"Emirates has suspended passenger flights from India effective 24 April 2021 until 30 June 2021. Furthermore, passengers who have transited through India in the last 14 days will not be accepted to travel from any other point to the UAE," said the statement.

"UAE Nationals, holders of UAE Golden Visas and members of diplomatic missions who comply with the revised COVID‑19 protocols will be exempt for travel," it added.

The suspension of passenger services from India to the UAE initially came into effect on April 24 (from 11:59 pm) for a period of 10 days.

This was further extended by the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) on May 4, following a surge in COVID-19 cases in India.
