While we were gone on holiday, this Dave Chapelle story made headlines. Dave was doing a show at the Hollywood Bowl, which is a pretty good size amphitheater in Hollywood. Just as he was about to begin his set, a guy climbs up on the stage and rushes Chapelle, tackling him to the ground. The guy takes off and is apparently beaten up by security or somebody, because he’s later seen being put into an ambulance with a broken arm and black eyes. The attacker was found to be carrying a knife that was disguised to look like a gun … He won’t be facing any felony charges, but did get charged with a misdemeanor crimes of possession of a weapon with intent to harm, and misdemeanor battery.  That didn’t make Chapelle happy, and his lawyers put out a statement asking the Los Angeles district attorney to make the charges felonies… But it might be too late is the 23 year old assailant has already pleaded not guilty and will await a court date.

Will Smith will be guest on David Letterman‘s popular Netflix interview show, “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.”  So will he talk about the slap? No he will not… And it’s not because he’s hiding from the topic or said that he wouldn’t talk about it… It’s because the interview was filmed before the Oscars.  Other guests in the upcoming season include Billie Eilish, Ryan Reynolds, Cardi B, Kevin Durant and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.  It premieres May 20th.

And other Will Smith news, his highly anticipated film Emancipation has been pushed by Apple TV to next year. The film, based on a true story, is described as a “runaway slave thriller,” and was to have dropped later this year, but Apple has pushed it without explanation… But do we really need an explanation of this point?  The movie was already getting Oscar Buzz, which is interesting because you know, Will Smith has been banned from the Oscars for 10 years…
