UAE helps improve healthcare access for rural Rwandans

Abu Dhabi Media Office

At least 20,000 people in Rwanda have benefitted from a UAE-led humanitarian initiative to support rural communities.

The project, named 'Beyond2020' has helped deliver sustainable and affordable primary healthcare services in Nyaruguru and Rubavu districts, which lag behind the rest of the country in terms of health access and outcomes.

Four clinics have been established and nurses have been trained to manage the operations.

Rwanda marks the 11th phase of Beyond2020, which was launched by the Zayed Sustainability Prize in partnership with several leading organisations.

As part of the initiative’s impact to-date, a total of 10 deployments have been rolled out, including energy, health, water and food-related solutions in Nepal, Tanzania, Uganda, Jordan, Egypt, Cambodia, Madagascar, Indonesia, Bangladesh and the Philippines.
