'Red Carpet' passport control corridor launched at Dubai Airports

WAM

The "Red Carpet" corridor has been officially installed to complete passport control procedures at the Dubai International Airport in seconds without having to present any travel documents or biometric scans.

The service is the first of its kind globally, launched under The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, in cooperation with Dubai Airports.

The corridor relies on artificial intelligence and biometric identification systems, with data pre-processed to verify travelers' identities.

The crossing process is completed without any stops or documents being presented, while special cases are referred for manual review, maintaining the highest security standards.

The new corridor is estimated to simultaneously process up to ten passengers in 6 to 14 seconds, compared to traditional methods that process one passenger at a time, reducing waiting times and increasing the airport's capacity.

The launch of the "Red Carpet" is part of Dubai's efforts to strengthen its global leadership in smart travel and consolidate Dubai International Airport's position as the world's busiest airport for international flights for the eleventh consecutive year.
