Leaders of India, Turkey, Jordan arrive in UAE for COP28

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and King of Jordan Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein have arrived in the UAE to participate in the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28).

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai welcomed King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein upon his arrival in Abu Dhabi. 

Meanwhile, Erdogan was welcomed by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, and Modi was welcomed by Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior.

COP28 officially kicked off at Expo City Dubai on Thursday, with an important milestone on day one - the formal approval of a Climate Disaster Fund.

The UAE pledged $100 million to the fund, which will help vulnerable nations cope with the cost of climate-driven damage from drought, floods and rising seas. Germany matched the UAE's pledge, while the UK, the US and Japan also made contributions.
